The Highs and Lows...

The Highs and Lows...

Today marks Day 11.  I have hit the "hardest days" and wow, can I tell!  My emotions are running high, my energy low and my confidence and attitude even lower.  Per my "Whole30 Day by Day" book, one is most likely to quit Whole30 on Days 10 or 11.  The only thing preventing me from quitting, quite honestly, is this blog.  I committed to completing my second round of Whole30 not only to myself, but to each one of you who are reading this.  Thankfully, I made that commitment as it is what I am clinging to on these hard days!

Before I began this journey, I was asked to recruit my Whole30 support team in one of my books.  The book suggested adding individuals such as a mom, best friend, co-worker, etc.  Knowing how my first round went down (my entire family thought I was nuts), I left the page blank.  What I have come to learn is that this blog is my support team!  It allows me to express how things are going, lets me vent when I hit a roadblock and provides me a platform in which others listen.  Thank you to those who are reading and following my blog without criticizing!  You truly are what inspires me to continue on this Whole30 journey!

I contemplated whether or not to document my thoughts today, as I prefer to be peppy, upbeat and motivating and felt this post was going to be anything but...  However, I felt leaving out the lows wasn't fair to you or myself and wasn't a true representation of how Whole30 is affecting me.  As the program clearly lays out, not every day is going to be sunshine and rainbows.

On a positive note, I do have a few Whole30 favorites to share!  In the evenings this week, I have been super excited to get home to my dinner which featured a potato, Aidells chicken apple sausage, chopped green pepper, diced onion and egg scramble.  In fact, I am planning on making a trip to Hy-Vee after work tomorrow to stock up on more Aidells chicken apple sausage so this hit can continue!

My other saving grace has been La Croix water.  I know there are a million people out there who describe La Croix water as anything but satisfying.  However, La Croix has been to the rescue a few times when plain, mundane water just wasn't cutting it!

Lastly, I tried a few new Whole30 compliant products which I have fallen in love with!  Coconut aminos is much like soy sauce, but with 73% less sodium.  I used it on a chicken and veggie stir fry I cooked up last weekend.  The ingredients are simply coconut tree sap aged and blended with sun-dried, mineral-rich sea salt.  I know what you are thinking...how could one eat tree sap and like it?  Let me tell you---it tastes nothing like it sounds and truly has amazing flavor!  My other newfound love are Bubbies dill pickles!  They can be found in the refrigerated health section at Hy-Vee.  For $7 per jar, I have to limit myself to just one pickle per day, but I highly recommend them as a treat for any pickle loving Whole30'ers!

So, there you have it...my highs and lows of Day 11!  As I move on through the Whole30 calendar I shared in a previous post, the next three days will have me dreaming of junk food.  That ought to be fun as it hits just in time for the upcoming family wedding I will be attending this weekend filled with booze, cake and all things noncompliant. It had better be an early bedtime tonight to reset my attitude for the days ahead!
