Before I Begin...
I had successfully completed my first round of Whole30 in April of 2017. Upon completion, I was afraid to veer off of the path I had so carefully navigated for 30 days; trying to make my way through the many twists and turns life threw my way. I didn't want to step outside of the strict Whole30 guidelines in fear I would not only step out, but fall hard into my old habits. Sadly, that is exactly what happened...
The rules of Whole30 are simple...
For 30 days, I cannot consume:
-Added sugar, real or artificial.
-Alcohol in any form, not even in cooking.
-Grains.
-Legumes.
-Dairy.
-Carrageenan, MSG or sulfites.
-Baked goods, junk foods or treats with "approved" ingredients.
The last and final rule... I cannot step on the scale or take any body measurements for the full 30 days.
I hope this second attempt at Whole30 compliance will prove to be more everlasting as I am opening up my journey to friends, family, supporters, naysayers, strangers, critics and everything in between to help hold myself accountable. Those who read the posts to follow will not just see what is on my plate, but what emotions are running through my head and what energy I put forth in the gym. Here is to my next round of Whole30 (beginning April 2, 2018) and the entries to follow...
I've wanted to do this, but I feel like I need some recipe preparedness before jumping in. I'd probably eat the same three things for 30 days. lol! I'm proud of you for giving it a second go! Great training for a 1/2 marathon! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathryn! I've been contemplating when the "perfect time" would be and realized there is no "perfect time". Despite having a family wedding, trip planned to a brewery, among the everyday shuffle of life over the next 30 days...I decided now is as good as a time as any. Hopefully I have more energy this round to help get me half marathon ready! :-)
